A smashed iphone screen is enough to ruin anyone’s day and there’s nothing more irritating than continuing to use your phone with a cracked screen.
Don’t have hundreds of pounds to spend on a screen repair? Don’t worry, a replacement screen doesn’t have to break the bank, simply follow these tips to repair your iphone for the cheapest price.
Step 1:Do It Yourself
DIY is always the cheapest way to get the job done.
All you need to repair your phone, is a replacement screen which can be bought from Mecanico.
Step 2:Complete disassembly steps
Optionally, use an iOpener or hair dryer to gently heat the lower edge of the iPhone for about a minute.
This heat softens the adhesive securing the display, making it easier to open the iPhone.
Step 3
The iPhone 6s screen is secured with adhesive around all four edges. If you choose to replace the adhesive, it’s best to prepare new adhesive before disassembly. If you prefer not to replace the adhesive, that’s fine; the original adhesive will function identically.
Apply a suction cup to the lower left corner of the screen to begin disassembly.
Be careful not to place the suction cup over the Home button.
Step 4
There’s a notch on the underside of the display, just above the headphone jack. This is the best spot to pry open the phone.
Insert the flat end of a spudger into the gap between the display and the rear case, just above the headphone jack.
Use the spudger to push the edges of the gap apart, separating the display from the case.
Step 5
Use a spudger or a clean fingernail to disconnect the front camera cable connector from the logic board.
Disconnect the sensor cable and separate it from the logic board.
When reassembling the sensor cable, be careful not to press down on the center of the sensor. The correct approach is to press down on one side first, then the other. Pressing down on the center of the sensor can bend the component and damage the sensor.
Step 6
The display can now be completely separated from the rest of the phone.
During reassembly, pause here to replace the adhesive around the edges of the display.
